Merry Christmas

On this blessed day when we celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ (even though he was actually born in the fall two years before the three wise men showed up to give him some goodies). So that means I don't have a page for you today.
Actually, I won't have a page for the next 12 or so days since I'm going on holiday. So The Page- a-Day Experiment is on hiatus until I return home. So have a wonderful rest of Christmas Day and a happy and safe New Year!

Left 4 Dead MEME

This was fun. And it was all digital so it was kind of weird. I'm not used to that. Peace out and Merry Christmas!

Left 4 Dead 5

There we go. It's the tank enjoying the day while the city burns in the background.

Tank WIP

This is really lame. I would color this like the other L4D pictures, but my dad and I are about to watch Dexter. So, the pencil's all you get. Suck it up. Stop crying.

Blue Sub 6

This is Mayumi from the great OVA series Blue Submarine No. 6 with character Designs by the great Range Murata. Check it out.

Left 4 Dead 4

Louis the one black guy to survive a horror movie (game). Badass. Unless of course the computer is playing as him. Then he'll die like he did last night. Stupid computer.

Left 4 Dead 3

Francis. Nuff said.

Left 4 Dead 2

Ahh, Bill. He's awesome. I almost forgot to post today! OH NO, Mr. Bill! WHOOOOOO!

Left 4 Dead

Good God. Left 4 Dead is the new crack.

Full Line Up

Another double dip!
Misadventures in Physics is well on its way. I finally have the cast line up done, barring any corrections. Woot! This is by far the largest thing I've done. The original is 17400 pixels long! Due to my crap computer I have to wait about a minute everytime I try to save it.
Alright, I'm done complaining.

Half a line up

I feel like a cheap dirty whore. I'm double dipping again. I wanted to put up a brand new drawing that didn't involve any of my current projects. That's not going to happen tonight. So here's half of the line up for the web comic I'm working on, pre rendered. It'll look better tomorrow.
From the left it goes: HAL, Teddy, Sam, Joel, and Graeme.

The Oldest Story

Here's a picture of three of my oldest characters. I've been working on a fantasy book/world/comic/rpg since 1998, if not further back than that. I don't know how many revisions I've done but one day, God willing, I'll have something done with it.

Man, I keep saying that more and more often!

Armor Girl Colored

It's kind of double dipping since I didn't draw it today. However, I did change some of the it and I fully inked it. Add the coloring in on top of that I you got yourself a brand new picture. HUZZAH!

Armor Girl

Eh, sorry about yesterday's post. This one is much better and I actually put some sort of time into it. It originally was going to be a Nausicaa picture but I couldn't get it to look right, so I just erased everything and made my own grooviness. Yay!

Invincible Sketch

Hey, it's a drawing. Shut up.

Walker and Pilgrim

I love Powers. I love it so much that I haven't read past the first definitive hardcover, because I've been waiting for the second one. For two years.

Echo Ship 001

So I've found out that painting isn't my only flaw. I also suck at architecture, be it sci fi or real. Here is an example of my suckitude. Enjoy!

Reaper

Having to draw every single day is very taxing but I'm coming up with all sorts of cool stuff. This is a robotic assassin more commonly called Reaper. Awesome.

Thoreau and Alistair Picture Book

Here are two of the bit characters in my picture book. It was weird to draw both of them with soft edges, since in the comic they're hard killers with rough edges all over. Well Throeau not so much since he's just big dumb and innocent.

Thrasher

After a very, very long day I needed to crap something out. And this certainly is. Although it is very weird that I would draw something so completely unrelated to anything else that I do. Kudos to me for broadening my horizons.

IRIA

Now that I'm forcing myself to draw everyday I find myself bored with my own material and I'm finaly appreciating fanart. So here's my version of IRIA. YAY!

Interesting Times

Whew! Just slid in with barely two hours of the day left. Anyhoo, here's Rincewind in one of my favorite Discworld novels, Interesting Times, from author Terry Pratchett. He's wearing Noke shoes, because Rincewind knows that when everything is chasing you, comfort is key.

Charlotte's Picture Book

Here are two drawings trying to find the right kid friendly version of Charlotte.

Nathan Fillion Done

So this is the finished portrait. "But it doesn't look like him!" you exclaim. You are right. But I am finished with this piece. This horrible, ugly piece of a piece. From now on, portraits will be done in charcoal or, at the very least, not mechanical pencil (what was I thinking?) Thank God no one actually sees this blog!

Observation Deck

I'm not a painter, nor am I a technical artist, so this is what I crapped out. This is nothing like I imagined, although I think the glass came out pretty well. I think this is also my first painting of space.

Nathan Fillion/Mal Reynolds Portrait WIP

I haven't done a whole lot of portraits in the past year...zero in fact. And so I thought I'd try again. It's mostly just the lay in, so it doesn't look like the Firefly hero just yet. But it will. Another hour or so of work on it and it'll look exactly like the thumbnail of a photo I drew it off of. Just without color.

Snotty Echo's Faces

It's small, but it's still a post. Rock on!

Friday, November 28, 2008

37 bucks. Black Friday rocks!

Firefly and Supernatural, now mine. Need I say more?
Actually, yes, I do. How can an Emmy award winning show be cancelled? Oh right, FOX is full of greedy bitches.

Slayers?

So, here's the thing. I've always been proud of my abilites to mimic any style of drawing. I can mimic Michelangelo, Alphonse Mucha, Egon Schiele, all the great masters. Yet I can't draw The Slayers, the show that got me into anime? What kind of crap is that? Bull. That's what kind. The bottom one isn't too bad, but take a gander at the other two Lina faces. Eww.

Missed Jump

It's thanksgiving. Just be glad you got a damn picture.

Thorn's Helmet

So it's a cheap shot, but I needed to put something up today. Since sci fi is pretty knew to me (as far as drawing goes, at least) I did my best to make his helmet look high tech without overdoing it.

Tuesday, November 25, 2008

Lil Echo

This is the young version of Echo with a mighty big gun. The reason that there is so much open space is that there is something else drawn in pencil there. But since it's getting close to midnight (sort of) and I don't have a post yet, here it is in what I have so far. More to come.

Revan's a Bitch

Title says it all. Although Revan was the coolest character. KOTOR changed my perspective on games just as Chrono Trigger did way back when.

Neanderthal and Feral

Why are my characters like this? More importantly, why aren't all characters like this?!

Saturday, November 22, 2008

Banana Girl

I was looking at some Bruce Timm drawings and was inspired. That's it.

Mother Echo concepts

So I found out I really don't know how to draw old people. So here are some ideas for the old Echo.

Snooty Echo

Here's a face study of Echo. This post is kinda of cheating since I actually started the picture last night. But I finished it tonight so it still counts, right? RIGHT?!

Thorn's Helmet Hair

Thorn is the hero of my story Echo. This is just a rough trying to figure out what his armor, and indeed he, will look like. Hope you like it!

PS: Four days and going strong!

Echos

As with nearly every good idea I've ever had, I had this crazy ass dream and then started writing. Here are two of the characters, both who are named Echo, one old and one young. The ship they are standing in is also named Echo.

Eva

This is Eva from a comic I've been working on for a zillion years and have never really gone anywhere with.

popbot

Here's a painting I did of Ashley Wood's popbot. I'm not a painter, but I really enjoyed doing this. Enjoy!

The Goddess and the Robot

So here's my page for the day! Woot! Two days and still going strong! I'll have more by the end of the day...maybe. I'm not so proud of this one, but here it is anyway.

VHS v. DVD

So I had a 50% off coupon at Half Price Books. Not expecting to really find anything I saw The Slayers Next DVD set for 25 bucks. So 14 bucks later I now have two out of three Slayers collections on DVD (unfortunately the other season is TRY). Then I remembered this morning that I still had Next on VHS in my closet and figured this would make an interesting post. So above is a picture showing how much space I could save if I got rid of my VHS collection. Too bad I'm a packrat and will probably keep them until my grandchildren throw them away. Enjoy!

Goddess

Just so it doesn't look like I'm a scribble king, here's a nice inked picture, guaranteed no scribbles! This is a goddess, but other than that, I don't have a story on her. Yet.

Rachel's Hammers

This cutie pie is a character in a book I'm writing. Just a sketch again, and again in pen with a green sharpie for her eye. Yay!

Intro to the Page-a-Day Experiment

Hello all!

This is my first blog and I hope that you will enjoy it. More importantly I hope I enjoy as blogging seems to be the way of the forseeable future.

"So, what is The Page-a-Day Experiment about?", you probably didn't ask.

The Page-a-Day Experiment is what I hope will keep me on track with my goals in life. "How will it do this?", you again didn't ask. I have a terrible time with procrastination. I have a terrible time with commitment which compounds my procrastination to the point of patheticness. The Page-a-Day Experiment will host at least one page of my drawings per day (a page consisting of real pages or pictures I drew on a napkin), and the drawings have to be fresh. No double dipping for me. There will be no consistency to what I draw, the point is to make sure I draw every single day.

If I actually stay committed to this, not only will I be totally surprised, but I will use this site to actually blog about whatever I feel like blogging about.

I really do hope you enjoy my site and provide feedback every chance you get, even it it's just to say that I suck and should give up.

So I guess I'm done, except I have to start this off right. This is a page I did in a cheapo pen to pass time. It is probably not the best picture to start off with, but it is a page I did today. Take a look and comment please!

P.S. If I don't put out a new page everyday and you find you have the time, leave a nasty comment!
